so very much to love about this little city nestled in a portion of the blue ridge mountains. (i felt instantly at home being surrounded by these beautiful hills.) spent less than 24 hours there this week and am entirely smitten. here’s a little gallery which includes many images of the (currently being) revitalized river arts district – truly an inspiration for many other cities and towns across this country facing issues of abandoned factory buildings and rent issues for artists.
row one: scuplture in the ‘sweet biscuit inn’ b&b, 3-course french breakfast at the inn (made by the owners, who had just recently relocated to asheville from massachusetts), pomegranate martini at the ‘corner kitchen’ restaurant, porch at the inn; row two: cotton mill studios exterior, cotton mill studios inside working artist/gallery area, view of arts district from studios, line at ’12 bones smokehouse’; row three: exterior photos from the river arts district; row four: scenes from the arts district and one looking down a main stretch of the historic downtown – which is filled with local well-established businesses; row five: two images from ‘white duck taco’ (including the fish taco and chipotle grits) and two more of the arts district; row six: more arts district.
