one of my favorite holiday greetings to arrive in the mail each year is the handmade linocut card from my longtime friend louisa.  she’s a dear friend from the years i lived in maine.  louisa still resides there – raising her family, living near the ocean, teaching art on an island school and now creating linocut prints and cards in her home studio.  these pieces have a unique lyrical, textural beauty with modern lines yet a soft and warm tone.  she has just opened an etsy shop – entitled ‘studio downhill’ – where she describes in detail how she creates each print or card, the materials used and also her inspiration for the subject.  so – if you visit her shop, make sure and take the time to read a few descriptions of these gorgeous creations.
